Fusion Card Challenge - July 17th

Hi everyone - it's time for another Fusion Challenge - wow - did we see a lot of wonderful red poppies with bright blues and lovely triangle designs on all of your entries for the last challenge!  It is SO hard for us to choose our one favorite - there are SO many beauties to choose from - and thanks so much for joining us!

And now we have today's beautiful inspiration -  Look at these yummie cupcakes - I think they are candies or soaps don't you?   I got a gift of some soaps last year that look similar to these only they had real dried flowers on them.
So - I'm proud of myself this week - I was able to combine the photo AND the sketch in my creation!
First, I inked my white card stock panel with Antique Linen and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks.  Then I flicked water onto the panel - and since Distress Inks react with water - it created this lovely splatter.  I adhered a strip of Sketch Book Tissue Tape along the edge of the colors, wrapping the ends around the edges of the panel.  I stamped 'happy birthday' on a sentiment strip and adhered it with foam dots above the Tissue Tape.
I made my pretty flower out of Terminology Tissue Wrap.  I cut 4 squares each 3"x3", stacked them on top of each other and then fan folded them.  I stapled it together in the center and rounded both edges.  Then I pulled apart each fold and fluffed it up.  Tim Holtz has the tutorial for this Tissue Wrap Flower in his Compendium of Curiosities Vol II page 37.   After I fluffed my flower and was happy with it's shape -  I applied Spun Sugar Ranger Distress Paint with my finger.  This will, no doubt, get a little crushed if mailed, but I think it can be fluffed up again when received and opened!

I hope you will check out this week's challenge - and also all of the beautiful inspiration from the Design Team - Here are their links:

Clean and Simple x Three!

Well, I've come to realize later in my stamping life (!) that my card making design of choice is CAS.  When I try to fill up a card - I just make a mess of 'stuff'!

I have found, out in blog land, that weekly CAS challenges are popping up everywhere - so I've been checking them out each week hoping I'll find time to participate.

Today I have 3 cards made for some of these challenges:

This card was made for the Runway Inspired Challenge  - and it's due today by midnight so I got it done just in time!   Here is the inspiration:
Looking at the block pattern on the dress on the right -  I remembered I had a tile stamp from Starving Artists that would work perfectly!   I stamped it on white card stock and then sponged the colors over it.  My sentiment from MFT is stamped on half of a Labels 18 Nestability!

I created my next card for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge - Wallpaper - to create your own background.

I used a lovely background stamp from Waltzingmouse called Vintage Christmas Backgrounder (you can see it's NOT just for Christmas!), punched the bottom edge with a lacey punch from Martha Stewart and stamped the sentiment from PTI directly on the card stock -  This is another card for my good stamping friend Anne who had thumb surgery and cannot stamp for some time - she loves red so that's the color I used on this card!
And my final CAS offering today was made for two challenges -  Addicted to Cas - Code Word Masculine and CAS(E) this Sketch.

I don't think anyone can argue that motorcycles aren't masculine!   These great biker stamps are from a set called Live to Ride by A. Jillian Vance Designs.  As I've said before here on the old blog - my son rides motorcycles so I bought this set to make cards for him when I need them -  I think this one will be for his birthday in September!

I've been home on vacation this week - so I've had to time to relax, clean my stamping room a bit, sleep a little later than usual and get in some fun stamping time!  Back to the grind on Monday!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Don't forget to check back on Tues 3/5 when I'll be starting sneak peeks with the other DT members for the Waltzingmouse March Release!

A Trifecta!

Yes folks -  I have 3 items to share today -  all made for various challenges.

First up is a cute polka dot kraft bag that I decorated for gift giving. I made this for the Color Challenge over on Split Coast to use cream, black and crumb cake, and for the Less Is More challenge - to use Kraft and Cream.  I decided to step down from the SCS Color Challenge DT this week and so Karen chose colors I might have chosen and the optional dessert was to go CAS (my usual style!)

The bow is a sneak peek of a template from Creations by AR that is being released on Saturday (please stop by on Sat to see several fun projects I made using the bow and one other template being released!) The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.
My second creation is a card made for the Runway Inspired Challenge.  This was the runway inspiration:
and here is my card.
I paper pieced the ladies dress, colored her skin, hair and the flower in her hair with Copics, cut her out and layered her over a black Wonky Rectangle.  I stamped the sentiment and cut that with a smaller Wonky Rectangle.  Both images are popped up on form tape.  Both stamps are Hero Arts

And my third card was made for the CAS-ology Cue Card:  Fairytale.
My cute little frog prince who is just waiting to be kissed - is from a mini set from Waltzingmouse called Heroines - Fairy Princess.  I framed him with a Postage Stamp Nestability and added orange Tiny Twinkles to his crown (hopefully to attract the ladies!)

I hope you'll stop by again on Saturday -  I'll have a fun post of two new templates being released by Creations by AR!

We Had a Wonderful Time

Today I'm posting a card I made for the Runway Inspired challenge.  This was the inspiration runway photo:
And here is my inspired card:
I used Alcohol Inks for the swashes of color - applying them with the applicator onto glossy card stock in a kind of tapping motion rather than just swiping it across so it left a more interesting pattern.  Then I stamped the large and small circles from the Waltzingmouse Teeny Trees set using Versamark Onyx black.  This ink is a little more juicy and stamped well on the glossy card stock.  I dried the circle stampings with my heat gun so I wouldn't smudge it.  (the sort of smudge you see on the big circle happened just removing the stamp after stamping - the glossy card stock can be tricky to stamp on!)
I used the Small Madison Window die to mimic the woodwork behind the model on the runway - adhering it over the stampings with foam tape.  I layered the glossy panel to the white card stock base.
This great sentiment is from the Join Us set by Waltzingmouse.  This card is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4".  I will use this for a thank you card sent to someone with whom "we had a wonderful time!"

I'm also entering this in the Moxie Fab World Make Your Own Background challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Stamps:  Waltzingmouse - Sentiment from Join Us, circles from Teeny Trees
Paper:  white - PTI, glossy white - SU
Ink:  Versamark Onyx Black, Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories:  Adirondack Alcohol Inks - Red Pepper and Stonewashed, alcohol Ink Applicator and felt - Ranger, small Madison window die -Poppy Stamps, foam tape.

Yeah Baby!

I was inspired to make this card by two challenges.    My colors were inspired by the Runway Inspired Challenge - the white and blue in the dress - and the shadowy grey background

My theme was inspired by Cas-ual Fridays challenge - Round of Applause - CAS cards that celebrate an accomplishment and feature at least one circle.

My stamps are from the set Woot Woot by Cas-ual Fridays Stamps.  I stamped a piece of the line with circles stamp on a 3"x3" white panel coloring in the rims of the circles with a blue Copic and adding the celebratory "Yeah Baby!" above it.  I layered the white panel to the gray Bazzill card with foam tape.

Although this card could be for celebrating all kinds of accomplishments with the sentiment on the front -  mine will be a birthday card based on what I stamped inside!  Stamps here also from the Woot Woot set.
Stamps:  Woot Woot - Cas-ual Friday's Stamps
Paper:  white - PTI, grey Bazzill
Ink::  Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories:  Copic - B24, foam tape.
