Felt Embroidered New Home

Today I have a project to share that I made using another of Eileen Hull's new dies that were introduced at Creativation in January.  For this project I made a stand up card using her House/Pocket Stitchlits die and the LOVE from her Word Stitchlits dies
I started by making the base of the card using Eileen's Mailable Frame die that I cut out of Cream Little Sizzles Mat Board and layered a piece of wood grain patterned paper over it.
I die cut the house and decorative pieces out of felt and glued them together.  The die cuts holes along the edges of the house so it is very easy to embroider a blanket stitch around the edges which I did with red embroidery floss.  I die cut the love over the door and embroidered that as well.  I added a little flower brad to the door as a cute little door handle.
I adhered the house to the front of the Mailable Die cut and stamped a new home sentiment inside.

Wouldn't this be a fun and impressive card to send to someone in a new home?!
You can also use this die to make a little purse by cutting two pieces of the house, cutting off the roof of one (just below the roof line - so you're left with a rectangle), layering the two pieces together (with the rectangle in front) and folding down the roof piece of the back for the purse flap!

You will find examples of the purse made by some of the Creative Team over on Eileen's blog where she will be posting our projects during the month of March!

New Home Congrats Tag

I have a tag to share today that I made using a Mega Mat die from PTI rather than a tag die.  I also used another die and stamp set that I haven't used since purchasing it almost a year ago (the stamp set is only $5 and the die is only $3!). It's called  Polka Dot Parade #10 by PTI.  Because they are clear stamps - I could bend the congrats one to stamp it on the curve.
I die cut two Mega Mats -  die cut the house and roof out of one of them and then layered one mat over the other.  I stamped on the cut outs and inserted them into the openings on the top mat.  I love the look of the inlaid die cuts - so fun!  On the back of the tag I stamped "where your story begins' from the same stamp set.
My new home tag was inspired by the latest Tag You're it challenge.
Stamps:  Polka Dot Parade #10 - PTI
Paper:  White - PTI
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Tangelo, Bamboo Leaves and Rosebud
Accessories:  Mat Stack 3 die - PTI, Cropadile, Honey Dew and Pink Sorbet Twine - The Twinery, Polka Dot Parade #10 die set - PTI, home made enamel dots from Perler beads, Glue N Seal - Ranger, foam dots.

Home Sweet Home

I've been wanting to use my Alterations Artful Dwellings die for quite a while - and today I finally got it out!  This cute New Home card was so easy to put together!
The die cuts all 4 of the dwelling shapes.  I attached them by laying them down side by side on my work table with just a little space between each one so they could fold over each other.  I ran a piece of Idea-ology Tissue Tape across all 4 pieces - then wrapped it around the back over each panel to where I started.  Here's the view from the back when it's opened up.
Here's how it looks folded up. It's small enough to be mailed in a regular A1 envelope.  Kind of cute isn't it?!  (It actually folds flatter - but I opened it a bit so it would stand up!)
I was inspired to make my house card by this month's Virginia's View Challenge - Shape Card
and I used stripes on it for the Cas-ology Cue card - Stripe.

The little windows and door were die cut using Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers Mini Openings die and Where Women Cook Windows Die from Sizzix.  The sentiments, front door and little house stamps are from A Cottage Home, A Cottage Christmas and Country Labels 4 from Waltzingmouse.

Stamps:  A Cottage Home, A Cottage Christmas, Country Labelsd 4 - Waltzingmouse
Paper:  Black, Vintage Cream - PTI, DP October Afternoon - Sidewalks and Farmhouse pads.
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories:  Dies - Alterations -  Artful Dwellings, Mini Openings Movers and Shapers;  Windows - Where Women Cook - Sizzix, Sketch Book Tissue Tape - Idea-ology, Glue N Seal - Ranger.

Home Sweet Home

I used a newly learned technique on my card background today.
Over this past weekend I attended 2 workshops by Wendy Vecchi (see this post and this post) and one of the myriad of techniques she taught us was this wonderful 'marble-look' background.  To make it you first need Ranger Specialty Stamping Paper - that is somewhat like glossy card stock - but not as glossy (it may work on glossy card stock - I haven't tried it yet!).  You pour a puddle of rubbing alcohol on a non-stick craft mat and mix a drop of Archival Reinker into it (I used Cornflower blue - you can use more colors if you want).  Then you drag your paper through it and dry it with your heat gun tilting it to move the drips around and dropping more alcohol right on the paper if you want to change the look.  Then you dry it completely with the heat gun
I then used Ranger Distress Stains to color two of my chipboard houses and one I inked with Cornflower Blue Archival Ink.  I layered them to the panel with foam dots.   I stamped the sentiment from Waltzingmouse on white card stock and punched it with a circle punch.  Then I simply layered the panel to a white panel and then to the blue card base.

I was inspired by the following challenges for my card today:
The Jugs Inspiration Photo - I was inspired by the blues and the patterns of the sky
Less is More - to use 3 of something -  I used 3 houses and 3 colors of blue.

Stamps:  A Cottage Home - Waltzingmouse
Paper:  White, Blueberry Sky - PTI, Specialty Stamping Paper - Ranger.
Ink:  Cornflower Blue ink pad and re-inker - Archival, Ranger Distress Stains - Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass.
Accessories:  Rubbing alcohol, foam dots, Glue N Seal - Ranger, 1 1/4" circle EK Success, non-stick Craft Mat - Ranger, heat gun, chipboard mini houses - Maya Road.

Waltzingmouse February Release - Sneak Peek Day 3

Welcome friends to day 3 of the Waltzingmouse February Release Sneak Peeks!  Today, Claire has charged us to show how the new sets Gift Card It and Gift Card It Dies, can be used for projects other than gift cards!  Well, we all love a challenge right?!  So here are 3 cards I made using the gift card rectangle die as a panel on my creations along with some sentiments from Gift Card It.

For this card - I added washi tape, a sentiment strip, enamel dots and a key charm to the Gift Card It Die and layered it onto the card base with foam dots.  The NEW Home sentiment is from Gift Card It
I used the Paper Players Sketch for my card and I used metal (key charm) for this weeks Less is More challenge.
For my next card I die cut the gift card in black and scored it on an angle down the whole length of the panel.  I also scored a frame on the white panel.  I stamped the sentiment from Gift Card It on a sentiment strip and adhered it to a striped straw.
Close up of the scoring on the black.
I'm  linking this card up to this weeks' Waltzingmouse Fanatics Challenge - For the Boys and
the Split Coast Stampers  -Love Fest Challenge -  Let's Score sponsored by ScorPal.

And for my third and final card today, I die cut and overlapped two of the gift cards.  I stamped a portion of one of the sentiments from Gift Card It (the full sentiment says For Lovely You from Lovely Me) on the panel and stamped the little bouquet on a punched circle coloring it with Copics.  After putting the pieces together, I embossed the whole panel and then the base panel with mixed dots.

My design for this card was this weeks' Seize the Sketch
I hope I've given you some ideas on using the Gift Card It Stamps and Dies - They're not just for Gift Cards!   Now let's go check out the rest of the Design Teams creations!!

PTI Dec Blog Hop - Tied Up with String

Happy day after Christmas everyone - are you out shopping all the sales?? -  I'm back at work for a couple of days and then off for New Year's week - whoo hoo!!

Today I'm participating in the Papertrey Ink December Blog Hop  The challenge is "Tied up With String"
For my project - I decorated a white 6" x 8" mesh net bag from Pouch Mart with a tag and twine for a new home gift.
I used two dies - Tag Sale #5 and the house die from Boards and Beams - embossing the house stamp from Boards and Beams in white on kraft card stock.  I tied the tag onto the bag by simply looping the twine through the holes in the mesh.
That gave me the idea to add a little texture to the plain white net bag by tying twine knots randomly on the front of the bag.
Since the bag is see-through - the lovely gold and silver scented candle I placed inside is shown off quite nicely!

If you'd like to be inspired by all kinds of ways to use string - check out the PTI blog hop here where everyone is linking up their projects!

Stamps:  Boards and Beams - PTI
Paper:  white, Kraft - PTI
Ink:  Versamark, Ranger Distress Frayed Burlap
Accessories:  net bag - Pouch Mart, white embossing powder, heat gun, Dies - Tag Sale #5, Boards and Beams - PTI, foam dots, black/kraft twine - Timeless Twine, Cappuccino Twine - the Twinery

WMS March Sneak Peek Day 1 - A Good Egg

The Waltzingmouse Design Team is happy to welcome you to Day 1 of the Sneak Peeks of the long awaited release of new WMS stamps!  Claire has designed 3 wonderful new sets for us all!  Today we are showing you creations using  A Good Egg - a smaller set with 3 eggs, bunnies, chicks and a rooster, 6 wonderful sentiments and 7 little design elements!

It's not a set just for Easter either -  in fact, none of my projects today are for Easter (!)

My first creation is a new baby girl card - I used one of the eggs in the set, a little chick and one of the sentiments.  I layered the images onto a Fleur de Lis Square with foam tape and added 3 Tiny Twinkles for a touch of shimmer.  Isn't this sweet?!
Next up is a really, really, clean and simple card -  just using one of the wonderful sentiments in this set and a little leaf design element teamed up with two strips of patterned paper.  Love the two different  fonts on this sentiment don't you?  I would use this as a get well card or as an encouragement card.
And for my last inspiration for you today - I have a card that could be used, I think, as a new baby or a new home card.  I used the sweet little bird house from this set - stamped it, cut it out, popped it up on foam tape and added a little red heart rhinestone over the door opening - and another two-font sentiment.  The branch is a Memory Box die cut out of Tim Holtz Kraft Glassine paper -  my card is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" (as are all three of my cards today) so it's ok that the branch sticks out over both edges - it will still fit in a standard A2 envelope!  I like how it allows your eye to flow off the card - almost like you are looking at a real branch coming off a tree just out of sight!
Now - I hope you'll take some time to visit all of the Design Team whose links are listed below where you will find TONS of inspiration!  You may notice that the Design Team has almost doubled in size!  We are very happy to welcome all the ladies that were on the sketch design team to our WMS DT!  Whoo hoo -   please give them a warm welcome when you visit them!

And please be sure to stop by tomorrow for Day 2 of the Sneak Peeks!

Oh AND there's a little competition - PIN IT TO WIN IT! - All you have to do is PIN your favorite sample from today's Design Team creations on your Pinterest board, use the keyword #WMSagoodegg in the caption to your pin. On Friday at 6pm GMT Claire will gather all the pins with the keyword #WMSagoodegg to pick a random pinner to win this new stamp set! Such a fun idea!!! : )

Waltzingmouse Sept Preview Day 1 - Love Lives Here

I'm so excited to be showing you a preview of A Cottage Home - one of the wonderful new sets Claire has created for the Waltzingmouse September Release!

The Design Team will be previewing new sets Friday through Sunday and we'll be having a Blog Waltz for the release on Monday so I hope you'll keep stopping by!

And here's my preview card.  I used one of the wonderfully detailed cottages in this set, coloring it with Copics.  This stamp just screamed at me to layer it - so I stamped it three times, cut out the front with the pointed roof and then just the door and layered them over the first stamping with foam tape.
I used this weeks Split Coast Sketch for my card.   You can see the layering here on this side view.  I put clear rhinestones on the tops of the chimneys so they look shimmery silver, two orange ones on the circle ornamentation on the base of the gingerbread trim and 3 black ones on the door.
On the inside - I stamped one of the sentiments in black ink.  Then I stamped the decorative trees and walkway in grey ink - coloring the trees with a Copic.  I just LOVE that walkway - don't you??!!

And I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome three new DT members -  Becca, Kelly and Clare - please help us give them a warm welcome today!!  We're SO excited to have them join the team!

Here are links to all of the Design Team members who are previewing this lovely set today - I'm off to check them out - are you coming??!!

Sharing a Secret and Waltzingmouse Stamps!

I have been keeping a secret for a while now and I'm so very excited that I can finally share it with you!

Claire Brennan of Waltzingmouse Stamps has chosen me to be on her brand new Design Team !!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE (did I say LOVE?!?) these wonderful stamps with Claire's special 'Irish' touch to the sentiments and images.

So today she is having the GRAND OPENING of her new Waltzingmouse Stamps Web Store and has asked all of her Design Team to create some cards/projects highlighting her stamps. We'll be posting things all week so be sure to keep checking back!

Today - I wanted to use her wonderful label stamp from the Vintage Christmas set. I think a special tag dresses up even the smallest of gifts and makes them really special don't you??!

First I made two traditional Christmas/Holiday labels.

On this one I stamped the holly on blue card stock to be a contrast on the green tag. I cut it out and popped it up on a foam dimensional. The berries are on the holly stamp but are also a separate stamp so it's easy to stamp them a different color and cut them out to layer them on.

And here's a second one.

Then I looked through Claire's other stamp sets to see what else I could use with this wonderful label stamp. I found lots of ideas in the Celtic Heritage Set.

First I made a tag for a wedding gift - My niece just got married this past May and her colors were raspberry and avocado so that was the inspiration for my tag. I just love the claddaugh symbol of two hands sharing one heart.

Then I stamped up this cute little swaddled baby image for a new baby girl tag. Obviously this would be great for a new baby boy using blues - or in green, yellow or purple when you don't know what sex the baby is when you give the gift!

I have loved thistle ever since I visited Scotland several years ago where I saw so much of it on our travels through that beautiful country! I don't know what I would use this tag for !?!? but I love how it looks! - maybe a bookmark or a tag for a gift of shortbread cookies? First I stamped the thistle in avocado, then stamped it again in plum pudding, cut out the flower and layered it over the avocado stamping.

And finally I made a tag for a new neighbor gift using this pretty Irish scroll pattern stamp that fit perfectly inside the label oval! So - just because this label stamp is in a Christmas set - you can see how versatile it is for many other occasions!

Now I bet you want to see who else is on the Waltzingmouse Design Team???

I am just so thrilled and honored to be working with these talented ladies and with Claire's wonderful stamps!!

Be sure to check out their blogs to see what fun things they have to offer this week as well as checking out Claire's new Waltzingmouse Web Store!!
And check out Claire's blog to see her wonderful creations using 6 sets just released today!

Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by today and sharing my exciting news! If you have a few minutes - you can see all the projects I've ever made using Waltzingmouse stamps here.
