Mixed Media - a Fall Wreath - and Checked by Santa

I have been a busy stamping bee tonight -  I watch The Voice (do you?) and it's been taking up a lot of my evenings, so tonight the show was the first live elimination and only 1 hour - I rushed up to my craft room after it was over and started to stamp!

My first project is for Mona and Sue's Mixed Media challenge - this week, instead of giving us colors to use - we are to create a Holiday Mixed Media project
I decided to make a Christmas Tag.   I used Perfect Pearls, and silver embossing as my mediums
I laid the Graduated Stars stencil over my die cut black tag and inked over the stencil with my Versamark ink pad.  I removed the stencil and brushed the Perfect Pearls over the tag using red, gold and white colors.  I went over the tag with my heat gun to try and set the Pearls so they won't rub off.  Next I die cut the deer and silver embossed the text from MPD Collage Backgrounds over it.   I adhered the die cut time piece and the Tim Holtz deer over the tag - the deer and circle are up on foam dots.  I added star rhinestones and the ribbons.  The sentiment is from PTI.
Next on my agenda was to make a card for Merry Monday - using red, aqua, white and circles and I used the Mojo Monday Sketch

And here's my card.  The background, label and sentiment stamps are all from Waltzingmouse.  I sponged the red banner onto the background - masking the outside lines with Eclipse tape.
and for my last creation - I just had to play along with the Curtain Call challenge - I just love the inspiration picture
I used one of my favorite wreath stamps - an old one from PSX - stamping it directly onto the patterned paper.  I colored the berries with a blue Copic and simply stamped the sentiment from Lil' Inker Designs onto a sentiment strip by MFT and layering it with foam dots under the wreath.
Well -  I think I'm done for tonight -  got to get up at 5:45 am for work -  but at least it's Friday!  Happy Weekend everyone!

Mojo Monday's 300th Sketch!

It's the 300th Monday Mojo Sketch today and Julee is having quite a celebration.  Claire at Waltzingmouse is just one of the many stamp designers donating stamps for prizes this week - so being on Claire's DT - I just had to play along!    Here's the wonderful sketch....
and here's the card I created.

I used one of the Russian Nesting dolls from Claire's new WMS set - You're a Doll.  I thought the patterned papers were similar to colors and patterns that you would see on one of the real wooden nesting dolls.
I stamped the doll in three pieces - base, kerchief, and face and layered them with foam tape.

So - be sure to check out all the prizes offered this week celebrating the 300th Sketch over at

I hope you'll stop by tomorrow to see my awesome creation using the new template Adela has created for July -  hint:  know anyone into golf??

Stamps:  Waltzingmouse - Russian nesting doll from You're a Doll, heart from You're a Doll Additions, sentiment from Frame It.
Paper:  White, Ocean Tides - PTI, DP Brioche - Memory Box
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black, Memento Teal Zeal, Ranger Distress Festive Berries
Accessories:  Half and Half die - PTI, circle punch - Fiskars, foam tape, Modern Label punch - SU, scallop square Nestability.

Waltzingmouse July Release Day - with Playful Pinwheels!

Are you as exited as we are about Claire's Waltzingmouse Release this month??!!

Well - today is the day all of the sets we've been showing for the past 3 days, as well as a new set being revealed today,  are available for purchase - and we're having our traditional Design Team Blog Waltz to celebrate!

You should start the waltz at Claire's blog -   if you have come here from Claire's blog - you are in the right place as I am the 2nd spot on the waltz card!

Which is your favorite??  Heroines - Fairy Princess? -  North Shore? - My Island? -  or today's super fun set -designed by our very own Anya - Playful Pinwheels??

First up - I used one of the sweet little patterned pinwheels - (there are 5 little ones in this set, each with a different pattern) I inked it yellow to go with the fun sentiment 'Sunny Side Up'!  I love that there are solid sticks and outline sticks for the pinwheels - this light colored pinwheel needed the softer looking outlined stick and I colored the inside with a grey Copic.

Next I made a lovely quilt-like pattern stamping two of the small patterned pinwheels.  I stamped them on Guide Lines Grid Sheets paper from PTI, although they line up so easily just stamping them point to point - I really didn't need the grid paper!   I thought I'd use just black and white for a masculine card - simply adding clear rhinestones to the centers and on the banner sentiment. I think this would make a great anniversary card!
For my final  project - I just had to get a 4th of July card in using the large pinwheel!  There are 4 different patterns you can use for the arms.  I used the stars and the stripes - stamping the center piece again on a scrap, cutting it out and layering it over the base with foam tape.  There are 13 different sentiments to go with the pinwheels -  I used Celebrate for this one and cut it with a Pennant Banner die curling it a bit around my finger and adhering it with foam tape..  I used the Mojo Monday Sketch for the design of my card.
You can see from the side view - how I popped up the center part.
I'm also entering this in the Twisted Tuesday Challenge - to make a refreshing creation (the wind spinning the pinwheel!) and the twist is to use red.

Now - off you go to the next stop on the blog waltz -  the ever talented Laurie.

Remember to leave comments all along the way -  one lucky commenter will be chosen from one of the Design Teams blogs to win a stamp set of choice! You have until July 4th 6:59 am EST to leave your comments.  The winner will be posted on Claire's blog on July 6th!

And don't forget to go shopping!!

Mojo Sweet Blue Birthday!

I made this card for two challenges today -  The Free 4 All  over on Split Coast was to use mostly blue and flowers -  and the sketch is from Mojo Monday.

My sentiment is from one of the newly released sets from Waltzingmouse called Compact Sentiments.  The flowers are from a Stampin' Up punch and the Monarch Border die is from MFT.

I used my 1/4" hole punch for the black centers of the flowers - adding a silver pearl to each. One of the flowers is popped up on foam tape and I curled all the petals up a bit with my fingers.
A short post for me today -  I've been home sick all week with a terrible cough and chest cold - which despite having seen the doctor and taking prescription and over-the-counter medicines - still seems to persist!

So I get up and do a little something -  then drop back into the reclining chair - I can't lie down in bed or I'll have coughing fits!   I hear this is going around a lot.   I can't remember ever being this sick with a cold.

I'd appreciate your 'get well prayers"!!

If you are looking for some fun weekend challenges don't forget about these:

Also later this month:

on 3/10  Lynn will post the WMS March Christmas Card Challenge in the WMS forum
on 3/17  the WMS Blog Party -  see all the details here.  This months theme is St. Pats/Irish/Green

Happy Weekend everyone!

Bella & Bronte and May Flowers

Don't you just love this little girl?!?!? She's Bella with her dog Bronte - a Mo's Pencil Digital Image.

She looks just like my Godchild, Eden - so of course, I had to buy her!! See the resemblance??!! This is Eden a year ago - but she still has that full head of curls!!
I made my card for Mo's Challenge #31 - to use a Mo's image and flowers. I made my own felt flower using my brand new Papertrey Ink flower dies - boy did they work well - they cut right through the felt using my Cuttlebug!

The sketch is Mojo Monday #139.

I used colored pencils and Gamsol to color Bella as well as a couple of Copics. Did you notice the cute bumblebee on the brad in the center of the flower? Cute huh!?

Stamps: Mo's Digital Pencil - Bella & Bronte
Paper: Dark chocolate, vintage cream - PTI, DP - October Afternoon/Rain Boots, Bella Blvd/Estate Sale/Nana's Apron

Three Cards on a Snowy Day

I was off from work today in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr AND we were kind of snowed in by a wet snowfall last night of about 5" so I took good advantage and made three cards for three challenges! All of them are made with stamps from Waltzingmouse.

I made my first card for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I just got some of this new Beloved DP by My Mind's Eye. It has such great designs and pretty colors! I used the same piece - front and back - on this card. The stamps are from the Sweet Hearts Set. I love the arrows with this set! I used oval nestabilities to frame the image and a Spellbinders Ribbon Tag Trio die to frame my sentiment.

Stamps: Sweet Hearts - Waltzingmouse
Paper: Vintage Cream, Terre Cotta Tile - PTI, close to cocoa - SU, DP My Mind's Eye /Beloved
Ink: Dark Chocolate, Terra Cotta - PTI
Accessories: twill - PTI, foam dimensionals, oval nestabilities, cuttlebug, ribbon tag trios - spellbinders

I made my second card using the New Technique challenge on Split Coast - Brick Tile. I have to say I stamped this image on 3 different pieces of paper before I found one that looked good as tiles. But I do like the final result! I popped up each 'tile' on a foam dimensional and sponged the edges of my panel with tea dye ink. These stamps are from the Irish Blessings set. I figure this would make a good masculine 'get well' card!
Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Irish Blessings
Paper: White, Vintage Cream, DP Bitty Box Basics - PTI
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Tea Dye Distress Ink - Tim Holtz/Ranger, Versamark
Accessories: black embossing powder, foam dimensionals, sponge
Techniques: brick tile, embossing

My third and final card today was made for the CAS challenge on Split Coast which was a color challenge - to use Teal, white and one other color on your card. I used a piece of teal designer paper from Stampin Up - overstamped it with the sentiment from Sweet Hearts and added 2 punched hearts! I guess my 'one other color' is black ink!
Ok - off I go to get some things done that I didn't get to while I was stampin' !!!
Thanks so much for coming by!
Stamps: Sweet Hearts - Waltzingmouse Stamps
Paper: White - PTI, DP - SU
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: heart punch - McGill

Embrace Your "New" Dreams

As promised - here is a card using some of my new Rubbernecker stamps - my first as a member of the Design Team! Whoo Hoo!!!

The Ways to Use it Challenge on Split Coast was to use something new - how convenient!?! On this card I used the background Bed of Roses, the bird branch and one of the sentiments (Embrace Your Dreams) from the Floral Silhouettes set.
My sketch is this weeks MojoMonday (on it's side)and I chose my colors and stamps based on the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger
I clear embossed the background and the bird on the branch after stamping them with Memento Desert Sand ink so they would show up against the textured Bazzill card stock.

I layered a piece of vintage lace over some magic mesh and I dry embossed the mustard panel with the forest branches cuttlebug folder. To finish up - I did some random paper piercing and added a few dew drops as well as the sentiment piece.
You can see the sentiment stamping better IRL - I stamped it with Potters Clay ink that kind of blends in -but I tried it in black and it was too stark looking with all the soft tans going on here.
Thanks so much for dropping by today! It's FRIDAY!!! What's up for your weekend?

Stamps: Rubbernecker - Bed of Roses, Outdoors bird branch, Sentiment from Floral Silhouettes
Paper: Bazzill cream and mustard
Ink: Memento Desert Sand & Potters Clay
Accessories: hot gun, clear EP, glue dots, foam dimensionals, modern label punch - SU, scor tape, magic mesh, Zutter Corner rounder, vintage lace from my stash, paper piercer, circle nestabilities, dew drops, forest branches cuttlebug folder, paper piercer

I made this card for 3 challenges! The first is the Doubledog Dare Challenge where I am this week's hostess. My challenge is to make a Thank You card since we'll all be needing some of those pretty soon won't we now!

I used the MojoMonday sketch #116 on my card as well as the colors for the Split Coast color challenge. Betty was the hostess this week and she asked me to help her by making a sample card to post with her challenge - whoo hoo!! The colors for us to use are yellow, eggplant and artichoke - a nice combination don't you think?

My sentiment is from the Waltzingmouse set Blessed by You - isn't it a great way to let the giver know that you liked their gift!?!?!
Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps - Blessed By You
Paper: Always Artichoke, Barely Banana, Elegant Eggplant - SU, DP - Basic Grey Wisteria/Violet

Mojo Sketch and Santa's Bag

The Ways to use It Challenge on Split Coast this week was to use stickers or rub ons on your card. I have several packages of rub ons but I always forget to use them. I found these pretty Christmas ones in my craft room from Stampin Up that I bought last year when they were on sale and knew they'd be just the thing for the challenge!

I used the mojomonday sketch for my card. I just touched Santa's cheeks with a blush Copic for a dash of color - I wasn't sure if it would stay on the rub on - but it did! The great papers are Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly.

Stamps: none
Paper: Vintage cream, ocean tides, dark chocolate - PTI
Ink: chamomile - PTI
Accessories: Copic R20, Rub Ons - SU Old St. Nick, classic oval nestability, Alpine Ribbon - SU, foam dimensionals, glue dots, vintage buttons - PTI

And here is the third treat bag that the elves dropped off at my house last week (see post here)

This cute baglette is from the big guy himself (Santa that is!) but I'm sure the elves designed and made it for him to givw out! The shape looks surprisingly like the Top Note by Stampin Up and this is the official Santa's workshop seal on the front. How fun that they attached a little reindeer and snowflake on the corners to give the North Pole atmosphere!

Inside they tucked more of those fun mints with the Seal of the Chief Elf on them - again - an official mark so we know these are the real thing straight from the North Pole!
And on the back - a personal note from Santa (doesn't he have lovely handwriting?!?) for the kids (and parents!) who have left him a little treat to give him strength for his travels Christmas Eve. Santa is nothing if not a gentleman - get a treat, give a treat!

Now - you can find very similar stamps to those used on this project by the elves above over at Claire's shop Waltzingmouse Stamps. Check out her other two new sets while you are over there - you'll definately want to pick up one or two! And - just a suggestion - if you like it - buy it - she sells out fast on her lovely stamps!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

A Mojo Page and a Crumpled Flower

This is my 6x6 page for Lesson 12 of Patter's His Holy Name Challenges . God's attribute for this lesson was God Who Sees. I found this Psalm that spoke to me about God watching over us and keeping us from harm. I used the Mojo Monday Sketch for my page - changing it to a square and slightly different dimensions on the panels.

Eat, Sleep, Fish - with Mojo

On this card I used the Try a New Technique challenge on Split Coast. We were instructed how to do embossed wax paper . I used the Forest Branches Cuttlebug folder for my background embossing the waxed paper then placing it between 2 pieces of glossy card stock shiny side in and then ironing it without steam. You remove and discard the wax paper - and then ink the glossy card stock with die ink and a brayer.

The fun fishing stamps are from a newly released set by H&M Stamps called Just for Dad. It also includes hunting stamps for the guys in your life that are into those outdoor activities. The set also includes quite a few fun sentiments so be sure to check it out!

I used the Mojo Monday Sketch for my card.

Now that I look at it - doesn't the background look like the ripples in a lake?? A happy accident - I was just going for the outdoors look with the Forest Branches folder. I guess I should have used a blue or greenish blue ink?!?!

Just to let you know - I have a several activities coming up and probably won't be posting for a few days. I have Bible Study tomorrow night - and then my niece, Katie, is getting married on Saturday - so we have the wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on Thursday night, a little pre-wedding cocktail party at Katie's sister's house on Friday and then the wedding on Saturday.

BUT! I have something fun to share with you on Friday - so be sure to check back for that posting!

Thanks so much for stopping by and saying hello!

Best Friends

I was the hostess this week for the Doubledog Dare Challenge I do with a group of friends on Split Coast. My challenge was to use this cute free Digi Image from Two Scoops Rice Designs to use on their card. Rennae has offered it free on her blog for April. I used this weeks fun MojoMonday Sketch for my card.

I had to make the card big (5x5) to accomodate the size of the image. I used Art glitter on the popped up butterfly. For the back panel on the sketch - I just used a cut out Nestability scalloped square instead of a solid panel. I used Labels Four Nestability for the sentiment and an EK Success punch for the scrolly edge. I colored the image with Prismacolor markers.

You can play along with our Doubledog Dare Challenges - just post your card in your Split Coast Gallery and put DDC in the keywords. You can see all the DDC cards here.

Thanks so much for coming by today!! I'm off to eat my supper!

Embrace the Girls of the World

Isn't this the cutest little image? I found it on a web site quite some time ago - it was a whole sheet of about 15 different 'Girls of the World" and it was free - out in share-ware land so I saved it to my hard drive. I went back to the site to send the link to my Double Dog Dare friends and it was no longer available (!?) so I'm so glad I saved it - although I missed out on the boy images as well as some other varieties of girl images. You snooze - you loose!!
Well - moving on - my card today uses the colors of the Split Coast Color challenge: Rose Red, Kiwi Kiss, More Mustard and the sketch from Julee's Mojo Monday Sketch
And, as I mentioned at the start - this weeks Doubledog Dare Challenge - I was the hostess this week and the challenge was to use one of the 'Girls of the World' Images from the sheet I sent them. It will be fun to see which image each girl uses!
We'd love to have you join our Doubledog challenges - just upload a card to your SCS gallery using any girl image and use the keyword DDC.
If you'd like me to send you the file of all the 'Girls of the World' images - just e-mail me with your e-mail and I'll send it right off - be sure your e-mail doesn't put me into junk mail when I arrive with an attachment! Click on "view my complete profile" on the side bar
Edit: you can find some of the images here: on Laura's blog - which is where I first found them.
You can find all the Doubledog Dare challenge cards here.
Oh! and I have some exciting news to share with you today - Heather from H&M Stamps has asked me to continue on her Design Team for 6 more months! I'm just so thrilled and excited!
You can see her announcement about all the DT members here. She's having a new release in March and I'll be doing a sneak peak at the end of this month and we'll be doing a blog hop the first of March - so be sure to watch for all the excitment!!
Thanks so much for coming by today!

A Little Humor

Happy Tuesday everyone!
I made a 'grand slam card' covering 3 challenges today. The color challenge on Split Coast, Julee's Mojo Monday sketch challenge and the Doubledog Dare Challenge I do every week with some SCS friends. Anne H was our hostess this week and she challenged us to make a humorous card.
So I think looking at the butt of a little purple chickie qualifies as humor (!?!) I used the A Lil' Behind stamp set by H & M Stamps and two Cuttlebug embossing folders - Swiss Dots and Argyle. The pretty designer paper is Amy Butler.

We'd love to have you play along with the Doubledog challenge - just make a humorous card, load it on your Split Coast Gallery and use the Keyword DDC. You can see all the Doubledog cards here where we'll be looking for your card too!! You can see all the Doubledog members on my sidebar.

You still have time to check out my blog candy too.

Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by today!
