Christmas Shaker Tags

I've been making lots of cards and crafts the past month, as I have a table at a craft sale this coming weekend.

Here are some fun shaker Christmas Tags I made using the new PTI Make It Market Kit: Fairy Tale Christmas.
The kit includes dies for tags and little book/boxes, stamps, the clear bubbles, a packet of patterned papers and a downloadable booklet showing how to make all the things you can with the kit!
This tag has a lovely country home and trees die cut inside along with snow crystals and golden beads (a gift from my friend Loll - thanks Loll!).   The sentiment is die cut from the included papers and there is also a stamp for it in the kit.
I made 8 of these with two different patterns of paper.
I stamped To: and From: from the stamp set in the kit on the back
I made a few more shaker tags with a Santa and his sleigh flying over trees die cut inside - using papers from the kit for the framing.  I added snow crystals and silver sequin stars to these tags.  The sentiment is die cut from the patterned papers in the kit but there is also a stamp for it.
With the same thing stamped on the back.
These fun shaker tags are 2 1/2" diameter circles.

Loll's Twelve Tags of Christmas - Day 8

Have you been following Loll's Twelve Tags of Christmas?
She's hosting them over at her blog again this year (her 5th and final year!)  and she has invited 12 friends to help her by making tags.
The twelve days are running from November 5 - 16th so we are about two thirds in and I am thrilled to be bringing you my tag for Day 8 today!
You'll definitely want to check out her blog for all your Christmas/Holiday tag inspiration needs!  AND you can link up YOUR tag!  See details at the end of my post!

Here is my tag.
Gosh, this cute little reindeer and his hooves just make me smile!
My tag is 4 1/2" tall (including the antlers) and 2 1/4" wide.  I used PTI's Tag Sale Die #2 for the base - cutting it out of both white card and birch wrapping paper
(I purchased the wrapping paper at Pier 1 Imports last Christmas season!).
The deer head and hoves are from Ellen Hutson - Animal Box Toppers Dies (there's also a bear!)  I die cut the pieces out of white card and colored them with Copics.  I put a foam dot under the end of his nose but the bridge is adhered flat to the face between the eyes!
To get more mixed media onto my tag I embossed the antlers and feet with Vintage Beeswax Baked Texture Embossing Powder from Emerald Creek which gives them texture and shine!
This fun sentiment and snowflakes are from a retired Waltzingmouse set - Around Christmas Time.  I stamped To: and From: on the back of the tag.  I added tiny rhinestones to the centers of the snowflake stampings and looped a piece of Maraschino twine through the top of the tag.
Be sure to check out Loll's Day 8 tag which is posted along with my deer tag here on her blog!
We hope you'll create a mixed media tag as well and link it up over at  Stamping with Loll!

The guidelines for Loll's challenge are that it must be a mixed media Christmas tag (any style/any size) which includes stamping, plus two mixed media elements (techniques or products).

I used Copics, embossing, stamping, twine and rhinestones!
You can find all of the tags I've made for Loll's Twelve Tags of Christmas for the past 4 years here!

A Bottle of Cheer - Gift Tag

I'm just squeaking in to Loll's wonderful 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge - where she asks us to make a Christmas Mixed Media Tag -  using stamping and at least two other medias.
For my tag I used stamping, with embossing and sponging as my two other media.
I used PTI's Folded Tag die along with Beautiful Berries: Winter stamps and dies.  I embossed the top tag with Emerald Creek Allure Weathered Wood Embossing Powder and the sentiment in Ranger Gold Embossing Powder and I sponged all the edges with Ranger Distress Antique Linen Ink.  I looped a piece of wrinkled seam tape through the hole at the top so it could be tied on to a package.
I think it dresses up a gift of bubbly quite nicely. No further wrapping required!
We have until the end of day on 11/24 to link up our mixed media tags - and there are prizes to be won - so please join in here at Loll's Blog!

I'm also linking my tag to:

Stamps:  Beautiful Berries - Winter - PTI
Paper:  Water Color - Ranger, White - PTI
Ink:  Stormy Sea, Scarlet Jewel, Pure Poppy - PTI, Ranger Distress Antique Linen, Versamark.
Accessories:  Folded Tag Die and Beautiful Berries: Winter Die set - PTI, Emerald Creek Allure Weathered Wood Embossing Powder, Ranger Gold Embossing Powder.

Loll and Friends - 12 Tags of Christmas - Day 8

I was thrilled when Loll Thompson invited me to be a guest designer again this year for her wonderful Twelve Tags of Christmas event over on her blog Stamping with Loll.  Her event runs from November 6th - 17th so we're a little bit more than half way through!
If you want some beautiful and creative ideas for Christmas tags - be sure to check it out!

And now, without further ado -  here is my tag for Loll's Twelve Tags of Christmas 2017!
I have a few photos to show you how I put this together.
First I created the background by rubbing Ranger Distress Walnut Stain ink on my nonstick craft mat.  I spritzed over the ink with water and then bounced the tag into the mix.  I dried it with my heat tool and then tapped it in again to get more bead-like drops.
Then I stenciled over the background with Tim's Merry Christmas stencil using Barn Door Distress Ink.  I put removable tape on the back of my tag to hold it on the mat while I sponged over the stencil.
Then I got out Tim's Mini Pine stencil and decided where I wanted to put a few trees - and sponged them on over the text - using Forest Moss Distress Ink.  I sponged the bigger tree on the left, then shifted the stencil and sponged the big tree again as well as the medium tree.
I die cut a Ribbon  banner out of red card, stamped it with a sentiment from Tim's new Watercolor Trees stamp set and sponged the edges of the banner with Walnut Stain Distress.  I also sponged around my whole tag at this point with Walnut Stain Distress.
I put an extra thick foam dot in the center of the banner and thinner foam dots near each end so the center stands out off the tag.  I looped red and green wrinkled seam tape through the hole and knotted twine around them
I always layer my tags to a slightly larger colored piece that I just cut from cardstock and trim off the corners - here I used red.  I like how it defines the tag - plus it covers up any mess created on the back with all the distress inks!
I flicked water over the tag with my fingers to create water spots.  You can see them on the trees here -  you can also see how the trees DO actually look greenish in the right light!
I added this cute wooden deer
(I don't know where I got these critters - the bag has no company listed on it - maybe Hobby Lobby?)  A adhered two Clippings Stickers/Christmas from Idea-ology on the bottom of my tag.
So what kind of tags are you making for the holidays?

A Tag for Christmas

I have a tag to share today that I made for 3 challenges!
The Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers is Balsam Hill this week and I was inspired by  this lovely table top tree.
I created a Christmas tag with a wrinkled seam tape ribbon looped through the top that is long enough to tie around a bottle of bubbly if that's the gift I decide to put it on!
I stamped the tree (this set is on sale now!) in two greens (two stamps), then I silver embossed the garland and cranberry embossed the berry/ornaments. I embossed the urn in Ranger Pumice Stone Emb Powder and it really feels like stone when you touch it - Distress Emb Powder leaves a texture.
I die cut my tag out of white card and patterned paper and adhered them together. I layered the Arch die cut over the tag and then layered the tree over the arch with foam dots. The sentiment is stamped on a piece left from the arch die cut that I cut the tip off of!
I'm also linking my tag to Loll's 12 Tags of Christmas challenge going on now through Nov 17th.  She's got prizes to be won so check it out and link up your mixed media tag soon!

Wishing You in Watercolor

Today I have a Christmas watercolored tag to share that I made for two challenges.
Here are a few photos of how I made my tag.  I stamped a text stamp onto Arches Watercolor paper using Archival Jet Black Ink (it's waterproof once it dries)
When the ink was dry, I brushed over the panel with water and then water colored the panel with an burnt orange color and let it dry.
I die cut a tag from the panel and a deer from a patterned paper as well as a piece of matboard.  I glued the two deer together to make it more sturdy
I watercolord over the deer with the same color to tone down the white dots a bit and added Small Talk/Occasions stickers. I added 3 tiny wood veneer stars (can you see them?!) and looped a piece of gold tinsel string through the top.
I often send a tag as a Christmas card so the receiver can hang it on their tree!
I'm linking my tag to:

Loll and Friends - Twelve Tags of Christmas - Day 6

Loll and Friends - Twelve Tags of Christmas - Day 6

I was thrilled when Loll Thompson invited me again this year to make a tag for her wonderful Twelve Tags of Christmas blog posts!  Today is Day Six

For my offering this year -  I made a tag using lots of Tim Holtz supplies and two of his creative techniques (you can find Tim's tutorial here).
Here's my tag!
I have a few photos of just how I created this.  First, for the #8 Manila Tag, I used Tim's Paint Patina technique - dropping some Fired Brick and Brushed Pewter Distress Paints onto my craft mat, spraying the paint with water and then dragging my tag through the mix.  I let the paint drip down the tag and spritzed with more water to blend it until I had the look I liked.  I dried the tag with my heat tool and sponged the edges with Fired Brick Distress Ink.
For this next piece I used Tim's Alcohol Resist technique.   I cut a piece of Yupo 2 3/4" x 5".  I put drops of Red Pepper and Cranberry Adirondack Alcohol Inks onto a felt pad on my applicator and pounced it over the Yupo until it was completely covered.
Then I laid Tim's tree stencil over the Yupo and rubbed over it with a bit of Alcohol Blending Solution on a foam pad.  You can see how the alcohol removed the ink in a smudgy kind of way!
I dropped some Mushroom and Butterscotch Alcohol Inks over an Adornment Pinecone and dried it with my heat tool.
I added the pine cone to the top of the tag using a Loop Pin through a piece of Trimming and a bow of wrinkled seam tape.
The sentiments are Metallic Stickers/Holiday Talk.  I added a piece of Symphony Tissue tape along the bottom as well as a Decorative Deer with a twine "scarf" tied around her neck and blowing in the wind in the forest!
You'll find my tag posted over at Loll's blog here - and be sure to check out the first 5 days as well as the next 6!  Such great inspiration for the coming holidays!
